Fracking Is Financially Good For The USA. Is It For Canada?
In the last few years, the US has become a top oil producing nation. This came as a surprise to many who did not expect such feat to happen under the Obama administration, especially since the US president regards himself as “green”.
The US oil production boomed because of fracking, a technique that still remains questionable despite its wide acceptance in the US. Until there is hard data on the environmental impacts of fracking, no one knows just how valuable or damaging the technique is.
Sure, it has increased oil production in the US to the extent that the country can export its tight oil if there were no ban, but is it good for the country in the long run?
One thing is for sure, natural gas is cleaner than coal. Now the question is should Canada follow in the US footsteps and allow fracking in many provincial locations?
