Are you looking for work in the Oil and Gas industry? Part 2
Further to the last blog post on helping to land that job in the oil patch.
Being involved in a job interview can make one nervous and you may think that you might not be accepted for the job. You should consider the fact that for the most part employers tend to choose the person that fits the company instead of the most qualified applicant and we would like to suggest the following tips:
– Be confident and full of energy.
– Be yourself yet not too funny as this can look fake especially if you determine that the interviewer is in quite a serious mood.
– Be interested in finding more information about the company.
– Never arrive late for an interview as that is just a bad first impression. Arriving early is a good sign and don’t forget to factor in anything that might delay your arrival such as traffic problems or finding your way to the correct office.
– Dress your best and ensure you are feeling good. You want to be alert and responsive and you need to dress for the occasion. You do not want to overdress for a job interview that does not warrant a full suit.
– Be very confident in how you respond to questions and try to portray the feeling that you are very willing to learn new skills and knowledge if you do not already know them.
– It is always a good show of interest when you ask questions about and show interest in learning as much as you can about the company and how it fits in to the oil and gas industry.
Following are some questions that may or may be asked of you but it would be good to prepare and have answers just in case.
1. What are your goals regarding your career and what level of your profession do you see yourself at in the future?
2. Why have you chosen the Oil and Gas industry to build a career?
