Do Women In Oil and Gas Industries Work Harder?

There is no question that the oil and gas industry still has a long way to go when it comes to attracting more women workers both in high ranking positions in offices as well as in labor-intensive posts in job sites.
A survey done by the NES Global Talent in 2013 has revealed encouraging figures.

According to the report, 75% of the women surveyed feel welcome working in the oil and gas industry. Most women in the industry feel that they need to prove themselves in the male-dominated industry so they often work harder than everyone else. This is good for everyone in the industry, for employers more so.

Closing the gender gap in the oil and gas industry could also mean reducing the shortage of skills in the industry. One of the major changes that needs to occur, is the strengthening of mentorship for women by women in the industry. There are other steps that some companies are already doing to attract more female workers in the industry.
