Oil Field Injuries Advice For What To Do After The Accident

All too often a person that is injured on the job ends up not getting the full financial help due to them especially if the injury results in work restrictions for the rest of their life.
You must remember that no matter how many good sounding promises you get you have to look after your own best interests because the company you work for and the insurance companies may not be as caring as they come across as being.
Following are some good pointers to keep in mind to help protect yourself if you are unfortunate enough to be involved in a serious life changing injury while working in the oil patch.
1.
Immediately (as soon as possible) contact your union rep or an equivalent if your company is not unionized and request the help of some legal advice.
2.
Write down everything you can remember leading up to the accident, during the incident and immediately afterwards. Indicate the names of any co-workers or people at the scene as they may be able to provide evidence about what really happened to cause or even just contribute to the accident.
The more recollection you can get and as soon as possible after the accident is best while it is still fresh in everybody’s mind.
The reason being that if the accident occurred due to unsafe work practices at the fault of the company you are working for you may be able to get more financial help to get back on your feet again. It has been known to happen in my experience where the first thing the company will do is look at a way to blame the injured person for the incident.
3.
You or someone close by must take pictures right away of not only your injuries but also the equipment and surrounding ares of the scene and from multiple angles in case something that is not currently evident as being useful as to the what occurred could be very important at a later date.
4.
Make note of any unusual event that may have happened and document what people were in the near vicinity.
5.
Indicate if there was any instructions given to you by someone to take a shortcut of perform your work task in an unsafe manner even if it seems like a very small matter at the time.In closing the more you can document as soon as possible is very useful and if it’s not then there was no harm done except for the effort to do the work.
In closing I hope that this information has been helpful and informative and you can use it if need be although I really hope you do not have to.
