Evaluate the Supplier’s Product Mix
It is important to choose a supplier that offers a wide range of products to meet your needs at prices you can afford. Aside from variety and the cost of the products, availability is also important to evaluate. If a product you need is not in stock, a good supplier should be able to make a reasonable delivery commitment.
Assess Supplier’s Sales and Service Programs
The sales and service programs of a supplier must be assessed in conjunction with the evaluation of their products. These programs can have the greatest effect on the cost of your FR clothing.
Below are two types of sales and service programs that are commonly offered by suppliers:
• Direct Purchase Program with Home Laundering- this is a straightforward transaction that ensures you don’t spend beyond your allotted budget. This involves choosing products from a supplier catalogue and delivery of the supplies to the client. Cleaning the gear becomes the responsibility of the company or the users of the garment.
• FR Clothing Rental/Lease with Industrial Laundering- this program eliminates upfront investment but does not always guarantee savings in the long run. Aside from the industrial laundry service, replacement of damaged garments may be included in the service, depending on the terms of the lease.
