Create Your Own Emergency Plan And Be Prepared

When thinking about preparing for emergency situations the first step is to first become familiar with natural disaster risks in your community. Consider how you will respond to emergencies that are unique to your region, such as an earthquake if you live near the coast and a fault line or a hurricane if your area is subject to such disasters.

This could include whether you might be in a situation where you would have to stay indoors commonly referred to as shelter in place do to an occurrence such as toxic substances in the air or do you have to get out in a hurry from a hurricane and all you can do is grab your survival kits that are ready to go with your emergency supplies to get you through the time needed for help to arrive.

Your emergency preparedness plan should not only include ample supplies such as an emergency survival kit that are kept in a spot for fast and easy access but your plan must also include what you are going to do after disaster strikes. This would include where you are going to meet after if you become separated or are not together at the time of the event. It is also suggested that you have contact information for someone who is not in the same geographical area as you and each family member should have this on their cell phone which is probably the best option as a person’s cell phone is a device that is always with them.

An example of what you can consider is a Basic Emergency Preparedness Kit For 2 People at the following web page:
